Is there a market for interactive stories?

April 15th, 2005 by Jana Egger

Where do you see potential for marketing interactive stories?
How do you evaluate the potential acceptance among different user groups?
A lot of questions but essential for all of us, working with interactive narratives.
Would a store preferably place an interactive story on the shelf for films or games.
People with exact expectations on the content of these shelves will never buy the interactive story.
How can interactive stories find their way to iTV and mobile phones?
Or are they damned to exist in a corner on the internet.

    interactivity on the market

well there for sure is a high demand for interactive content on the market 7 shelves… as you can see the evolvement of interactivity in computer games during the last years (Half Life 2!) this should now be transported to smaller units, away from the desktop to the notebook, mobile phones and pdas. remember the old gameboy? interactive content keeping you for months - and this at a low level of technology. content providers - especially for mobile phones, are still searching for “killer applications”. interactivity doesnt necessarily mean games - other things are possible as well! Hutchison 3 G is currently putting skype on its mobile phones: great idea!! just one example…
