Dear end users,
Welcome to the inscapers tech-forum.
If you want to present your use case to the consortium and to the Open Community, you are at the good place.
We will also give you here some instructions to produce your interactive story.
Best regards,

Hi all,
Please find some instructions on how and where to save your assets for the production of your interactive INSCAPE story. Please follow these instructions at the letter in order to keep the relative path and ease the packaging of your use case in the Final Release.
- Install INSCAPE
- Create your assets with your favorite advanced creators, multimedia or 3D software and export them in a format supported by INSCAPE.
- To make sure to avoid confusion when we will package the INSCAPE final installer with all the use cases, you can name your assets with a dedicated formalisme (i.e. mystory.my3dmodel.V3B, …)
- This step is not indispensable
- Create a folder somewhere on your computer in wich you will save your story (e.g. 'mystory.inscape' in a folder called 'mystory')
- Put all your assets in mystory folder with the following hierarchy:
-
..\mystory\Models –>for 3D models
-
..\mystory\Motions –>for 3D character motions
-
..\mystory\Sounds –>for sound files
-
..\mystory\Videos –> for video files
-
..\mystory\Images –> for you image files
-
..\mystory\Scripts –> for the code snippets you've created
-
…
-
For the the complete hierarchy of relative paths, you can have a look at the Data folder of INSCAPE (C:\Program Files\INSCAPE Final\Data)
- Then, you can produce your INSCAPE use case
- Save your story in mystory folder
To submit your use case + your object library for the final packaging with the INSCAPE installer, please respect the following steps:
- Make sure your use case is completely done
- Make sure that all your assets have the relative path in mystory folder(as described above), you can check the story status (File menu > Story status…)
- Close INSCAPE
- Delete the library
- In order to do this, erase the content of 'AssetImported' folder.
This folder is in 'C:\Program Files\INSCAPE Final\Data'.
- Do not use browser menu > Delete All
- You should save the content of that folder somewhere else to avoid reinstalling INSCAPE
- Start INSCAPE and open your use case (mystory.inscape)
- The library tab in the Object browser must be empty
- Import all your assets needed for your story into INSCAPE
- In order to do this, you must right click the Objects that are specific to your use case in the cast, and select Add to Library
- Don't do it by drag and dropping from the mystory folder to the Object library.
- Make sure that only the assets necessary for your story are available in the Object browser library (and all of them) (i.e. 3D models, 2D assets, sounds, images, videos, etc.)
- Copy paste the 'AssetImported ' folder in 'mystory' folder
- This folder is your object browser library. Do not forget it otherwise your assets will not be available in the object browser after installing INSCAPE
- Copy paste the 'Scripts' folder in 'mystory' folder
- Scripts folder is in C:\Program Files\INSCAPE Final\Data'.
- Zip mystory folder, upload it on Gaimon and send an Email to inform Me and Martyn
- You backup the content of your AssetImported folder in order to retrieve the default library (cameras, lights, props, proximity triggers, etc.)
If you have any questions, you are welcome
Cheers,
Matthieu
